Welcome Back to School and Introduction

August 27, 2023

Dear Fitch High School Parents, Guardians, Students & Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. I’d like to take a moment and introduce myself to you. My name is Dr. Philip Piazza and I am the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Groton. This year, I will also be assisting the Fitch High School administrative staff as the interim principal as we await the appointment of a new Principal of FHS. I am honored to be able to collaborate with a community of dedicated educators and staff who share a commitment to excellence in education and in always keeping the students at the center of all we do.

As your Assistant Superintendent, I’ve been motivated by a deep passion for fostering a dynamic learning environment that nurtures the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of every student. Now as I support the FHS administrative team, I promise to utilize my over 20 years of experience as an administrator at the high school, middle school, and elementary level to help build upon the strong foundations that exist at Fitch and to collaborate with all of you to elevate the educational experiences of our students.

In the coming weeks, I am eager to get to know the students and families of Fitch better. Open communication and collaboration are of utmost importance to me, and I encourage an environment where ideas are freely shared and valued.

This new chapter for Fitch High School will no doubt come with its challenges. I am confident that our collective efforts will lead to even greater accomplishments for Fitch and its students. I look forward to collaborating with staff, students, and families to ensure the success of all students.

Please feel free to reach out to me at ppiazza@groton.k12.ct.us  if you have any questions or simply wish to introduce yourself. Let’s embrace the opportunity ahead and work together.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to your children. I look forward to beginning an exciting and successful academic year leading up to the eventual appointment of the next Fitch High School Principal.

Sincerely,

Philip G. Piazza, Ed.D.

Assistant Superintendent of Schools
